Truth and Lilacs

Truth and Lilacs is a stand-alone, two-page roleplaying game designed specifically for interrogative conversations. It can be played by itself, or used as a tool within a larger roleplaying campaign. 

One of you plays the Prisoner. You are guarding a secret and you will attempt to escape this conversation before the Questioner can get it out of you. 

One of you plays the Questioner. You know the Prisoner is hiding something and you will attempt to talk them into confessing using whatever methods you can. 

The two of you are talking in ‘the Garden’ – a varied space to explore freely and in privacy, representing whatever setting suits your game or scenario. You walk throughout the Garden as a backdrop to your conversation.

The full game rules take up only 2 pages, although the rulebook also contains play examples, location suggestions, and support for re-balancing. 

You will need a standard deck of cards (jokers removed), a single counter, and a percentile die or other way of tracking numbers up to 9.
