World without Name is worldbuilding game about places, place names and their relationships to the world. It’s a fun way of creating or co-creating fictional settings using the medium of mapmaking.

The ‘goals’ of the game are:

· Fill out details of your world through mapmaking;

· Create a map that’s evocative of your setting;

· Leave space for change and exploration;

· Think about how places get their names, and create memorable place names that communicate something about your world.

As you play the game, you complete a grid to serve as 'skeleton map'. A skeleton map is a tool for creative worldbuilding.

You will need: the game rules; paper & pencil; a standard deck of playing cards.

Optional: If you wish to use an old map or atlas as the basis for your skeleton map, a PDF of several pre-scanned map pages is provided for download.

 This is a part of the TGI (Tiny Game Idea) Friday series! Every week I'm publishing a small, simple game with few components. Please follow along, especially if you're interested in unusual storytelling or roleplaying games and mechanics.
